Kāpiti has some serious musical talent, and the library wants to hear it! In collaboration with Crawshaw Music School, The Family Music Store, Mostly Music and Kāpiti Coast District Libraries invite our budding songwriters to create the finest tunes in Kāpiti. There are three categories in age groups (each with their own winner): 5-12 13-17 18+. Win either a Cort AD810 Acoustic Guitar or half a day studio recording time! Hester from Aotea College has started her own face painting business, Lauren from Te Horo will be running her nail painting stall and Ciara from Lower Hutt will be selling her pens, dummy chains, keyring and more at the market. Over 80 kids will be running 52 stalls at the market in Otaki - so go visit them, say Hi and support our kids.

On Monday (March 18) the second-annual Neurodiversity Celebration Week kicks off with a Whacky Hat Day championing the unique talents and perspectives of neurodiverse individuals across Aotearoa. The awareness week celebrated globally aims to breakdown stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding neurological differences aiming to support, include and empower every individual to thrive. Donations made from the Whacky Hat Day will go towards sponsoring teacher training in Neurodiversity across Aotearoa. “Approximately 40 percent of the workforce may possess Neurodiverse traits, with many individuals unaware of it,” says Natasya Jones, co-founder of DivergenThinking.
